Returning OFWs to undergo mandatory quarantine and COVID-19 rapid tests

All returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), whether land-based or sea-based, are required to undergo a mandatory 14-day facility-based quarantine and rapid antibody testing for COVID-19.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) medical team will be conducting COVID-19 rapid blood tests for arriving OFWs at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Director Regina Galias confirmed that starting April 23, all arriving OFWs will undergo medical tests, with blood samples collected for COVID-19 screening.

OFWs must provide personal contact details for reachability should they test positive.

OWWA has apologized for any inconvenience and anticipates test results within two to five days.

The government will cover all expenses for the OFWs' 14-day quarantine in assigned hotels after their arrival at NAIA.
