Two ships have been converted into quarantine facilities and are now operational, accepting repatriated Filipino seafarers and workers.
These ships started accepting arrivals on April 14 with 90 seafarers from South Korea, Indonesia, and Qatar, who will undergo a 14-day quarantine in individual rooms after medical screening.
Additionally, 48 OFWs from Taiwan arrived on Wednesday and were undergoing medical screening to be accommodated on the quarantine ships.
The PCG, in coordination with the Department of Health and Bureau of Quarantine, guarantees that returning Filipinos receive adequate food, supplies, and medical care during their quarantine period.
Admiral Joel Garcia, PCG commandant, stated that 75 security personnel and 25 nurses are assigned to manage the quarantine ships and attend to the needs of the repatriates.
In a separate operation, the PCG assisted in transporting 95 Filipino repatriates from Sabah, Malaysia, who had completed their quarantine in Basilan, to Zamboanga City and Isabela City.
