QC COVID-19 reproduction rate drops to 1.23

The reproduction rate of COVID-19 in Quezon City has dropped to 1.23, a significant decrease from last week's 1.59, according to OCTA Research.

Mayor Joy Belmonte attributed this decline to the city's enhanced response strategies, including increased testing, contact tracing, and additional isolation facilities.

The city reported an average of 743 new COVID-19 cases from April 20 to 26, a decrease from the peak of 1,183 average cases between March 30 and April 5.

The positivity rate has slightly lowered to 21 percent from 26 percent, while the daily attack rate per 100,000 population is 23.60 percent.

Quezon City has increased its daily average of COVID-19 tests to 3,298 across its local government hospitals and community-based testing sites.

OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David expressed optimism that sustained mitigating efforts will lead to further decreases in numbers.

As of April 29, Quezon City has 7,126 active cases, with 90 percent of total cases being recoveries and 1.2 percent being deaths.
