Metro Manila COVID-19 reproduction number drops to 0.93

The COVID-19 reproduction number in Metro Manila has decreased to 0.93, indicating a positive trend after a stricter lockdown was implemented.

This drop in the reproduction number, which signifies the average number of people an infected individual can transmit the virus to, was reported by OCTA Research Group.

The research group also noted that the average number of new cases in NCR per day over the past week was 20% lower than that of the previous week, and 30% lower than the average reported 3 weeks ago.

The NCR's positivity rate in the past week slid to 19%, from as high as 25% recorded 3 weeks ago.

The COVID-19 bed utilization in the region has gone down to 61%, and the occupancy of intensive care unit (ICU) beds likewise decreased to 71%.

All 16 cities and the sole municipality in Metro Manila have recorded a decrease in daily new COVID-19 cases in the past week, compared to the previous week.
