Palace praises slight COVID-19 case drop in Metro Manila

Malacañang has acknowledged and praised the recent modest decline in COVID-19 cases in certain areas of Metro Manila, deeming it a significant development in the nation's fight against the virus.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque highlighted this trend, stating that data from local government units (LGUs) indicates a decrease in infections.

Specifically, Manila saw a drop from 4,083 cases on April 15 to 3,957 on April 18.

Other cities like Muntinlupa, Pasay, and Valenzuela also reported fewer new infections during the same period.

Roque interpreted these decreases, however modest, as a positive sign that the prevention, detection, isolation, treatment, and reintegration efforts by LGUs are proving effective.

He further noted that this marks the first time in approximately a month that a downward trend in cases has been observed, signaling a potential turning point.
