OWWA launches 'Uwian Na' portal for faster OFW repatriation

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has launched a new online portal called "Uwian Na" to speed up the process of sending overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) home from quarantine facilities.

The "Uwian Na" portal is a registration system for OFWs who have tested negative for COVID-19 via RT-PCR and are currently staying in OWWA-managed quarantine accommodations.

This initiative aims to address previous complaints from repatriated OFWs who experienced delays in returning home despite completing their quarantine and testing negative.

By using the uwianna.owwa.gov.ph portal, OWWA can organize OFWs into groups based on their destinations, which will help in arranging flights and transportation from hotels.

To register, OFWs must be on the Philippine Coast Guard's list of repatriates with negative RT-PCR test results and be staying in an OWWA-provided hotel.

Upon successful registration, OFWs will receive an email confirmation with details about their upcoming travel arrangements.

Currently, over 8,000 repatriated OFWs are in OWWA quarantine facilities.
