Palace to ask OWWA for OFW quarantine test results inventory

Malacañang will request an inventory from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) regarding repatriated OFWs awaiting COVID-19 test results.

This action comes after some OFWs complained about being held in quarantine facilities beyond the mandatory 14-day period.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque stated that they will inquire about those who have been waiting a long time for their results and question laboratories about their capacity.

Roque assured that 13,000 OFWs who have completed their testing and quarantine are ready to be sent home.

He vowed to provide daily updates on the status of OFWs under facility-based quarantine, including the number of results received and released.

Roque also noted that the arrival of up to 80,000 OFWs, including those from cruise ships, could overwhelm existing quarantine facilities.
