16 OFWs arrive in Negros Oriental, undergo mandatory quarantine

Sixteen overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) arrived in Negros Oriental on Tuesday as part of the government's repatriation program.

They arrived at the city port around 1 a.m. aboard a 2GO vessel from Manila.

Upon arrival, they will undergo another round of screening for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), including throat swab tests.

Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Liland Estacion stated that the OFWs had already tested negative based on RT-PCR tests done before departing Manila.

However, as part of the provincial government's guidelines, they will be quarantined upon arrival and undergo another RT-PCR test.

Their throat swab samples will be sent to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for testing.
