The Office of the Vice President's (OVP) donation drive for health workers has successfully raised over P50 million as of April 11.
The collected funds have been used to procure and distribute 116,262 personal protective equipment (PPE) sets and 13,241 food and care packages.
The OVP, in partnership with the Kaya Natin! Movement, launched the drive due to the critical shortage of PPEs faced by frontline health workers.
So far, 69,075 PPE sets have been distributed to 327 hospitals nationwide, with 6,607 food and care packages given to hospital staff in Metro Manila.
The OVP is now distributing locally-produced PPE sets, created in collaboration with Filipino fashion designers, which allows for faster production and easier coordination compared to imported ones.
The office has also allocated P14 million for COVID-19 test kits from the University of the Philippines, in addition to previous allocations for extraction kits and PPEs.
