New LPA forms inside PAR, may become tropical depression Auring

A new low-pressure area (LPA) has formed inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), located 600 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora.

The LPA has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, which would be named Auring if it forms.

PAGASA Weather Specialist Veronica Torres stated that the LPA currently has no direct effect on any part of the country and could possibly move northwest, though its extension or track could affect the country if it moves closer to Luzon.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Wutip is now outside the PAR and moving west-northwest.

Wutip was last spotted 850 to 875 kilometers west of Northern Luzon.

Several parts of the country experienced a rainy Wednesday due to the southwest monsoon (Habagat), intensified by the tropical depression that turned into tropical storm Wutip.

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is expected to bring moderate to heavy to intense rains over Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro, potentially causing flash floods or landslides.
