LPA may become tropical depression in 24 hours

A low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The LPA was last observed 220 kilometers east northeast of Infanta, Quezon.

It is anticipated to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms to Aurora, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Albay.

The southwest monsoon, known locally as habagat, is also contributing to rainfall in various parts of the country, including Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Antique.

Metro Manila, Zamboanga Peninsula, Pangasinan, and the rest of Visayas, Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, CALABARZON, and Bicol Region will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the habagat.

These moderate to heavy rains may trigger flash floods and landslides.

The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the habagat.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be observed throughout the country due to localized thunderstorms.
