LPA outside PAR has low chance of becoming tropical depression

A low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

As of Thursday afternoon, the LPA was located 1,120 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao.

The LPA's trough and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) are expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over several parts of the country.

Areas like MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, and Quezon will experience these conditions due to the Habagat.

The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will also have similar weather due to the LPA's trough.

These moderate to at times heavy rains may cause flash floods and landslides in affected areas.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Habagat.

Severe thunderstorms in these areas may also trigger flash floods and landslides.

The northern and western sections of Luzon are expected to have moderate winds and coastal water conditions.
