LPA inside PAR may become tropical depression 'Auring' in 24 hours

A low-pressure area (LPA) within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, according to PAGASA.

The LPA was last observed 415 kilometers west of Bacnotan, La Union.

If it intensifies into a tropical cyclone within the PAR, it will be named 'Auring'.

The LPA is expected to move westward, away from the Philippines, and exit the PAR within a few days.

Regardless of the LPA's development, the enhanced southwest monsoon (Habagat) is expected to bring rains over southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Areas including Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan may experience moderate to heavy rains, potentially causing flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila, Visayas, Bicol Region, and other parts of Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, and CALABARZON will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Mindanao can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
