OCTA suggests relaxing quarantine if NCR cases fall below 2,000

The OCTA Research Group suggests that quarantine protocols in Metro Manila and surrounding provinces could be relaxed if daily COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Region (NCR) decrease to less than 2,000.

President Rodrigo Duterte has extended the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in the NCR Plus bubble, which includes the capital region, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal, until May 14.

OCTA Research forecasts that daily COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila will decline to 2,800 in two weeks.

If the number of daily average cases in NCR goes below 2,000, it will still be a significant number but manageable under General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

The group recommends that dine-in services remain barred, with outside dining being preferred, and proposes increasing the capacity of establishments to up to 30 percent.
