Metro Manila ICU utilization rate drops to 71%

Metro Manila's intensive care unit (ICU) utilization rate has dropped to 71 percent as of April 26, down from approximately 79 percent in March.

The overall healthcare utilization rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) has also decreased to about 65 percent from a peak of 76 percent in late March.

Overall hospital isolation beds are at 57 percent utilization, with 71 percent of ICU beds occupied.

Health Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega stated that while the utilization rates have decreased, "we're still not out of the woods."

Vega emphasized the importance of ensuring that health facilities can accommodate COVID-19 patients.

A slowdown in COVID-19 transmission is also noted, with a negative 15 percent change in the two-week growth rate in the NCR.
