Delta variant detected in 13 PH regions

Local cases of the highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19 have been detected in 13 out of the 17 regions in the Philippines.

The regions include Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Bicol, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Calabarzon, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the National Capital Region (NCR).

Out of the 450 detected cases, 355 are local transmissions, 69 are returning Filipinos, and 26 are still under verification.

The NCR has the highest number of local Delta variant cases, with all 17 areas within the region reporting cases.

So far, 10 deaths have been attributed to the Delta variant, and 13 cases are still active.

Of the total cases, 35 individuals with the Delta variant were fully vaccinated, 17 had received one dose, 83 were unvaccinated, and the vaccination status of 315 cases is still being verified.

The age range of those infected with the Delta variant spans from infants less than one year old to individuals as old as 84.
