BARMM to distribute relief aid amid COVID-19 quarantine

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is preparing to distribute relief assistance to families affected by the community quarantine measures imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Relief operations will commence this week in Cotabato City, surrounding areas of Maguindanao, and 63 villages in North Cotabato that voted for inclusion in BARMM.

The assistance package includes food items such as rice, noodles, corned beef, tuna, sardines, and coffee.

The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD-BARMM) has allocated an initial PHP7.3 million to provinces for the procurement of relief goods.

BARMM's chief minister's office is also preparing financial aid amounting to PHP5,000 and additional relief packs for all its employees, in line with a Department of Labor and Employment advisory.

The BARMM health ministry will also provide PHP2 million to each rural health unit to ensure adequate supply of medicines and medical supplies.

Additionally, the regional government will cover all medical expenses for COVID-19 patients in BARMM through its 'Ayudang Medikal para sa Bangsamoro' (AMBAG) Program.
