BARMM allots P155 million for LGUs’ quick response funds
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has allocated PHP155 million to its local government units (LGUs) to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
The funding will be distributed with PHP5 million for each of the five provinces, PHP2 million for each of the three cities, PHP1 million for each of the 116 municipalities, and PHP8 million for 63 barangays in North Cotabato.
This financial aid is drawn from BARMM's contingency fund to boost the quick response funds of LGUs.
The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG)-BARMM is also addressing policy and legal issues to allow LGUs to use their internal revenue allotment for calamity response beyond established limits.
In addition to financial aid, BARMM has dispatched medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) to priority referral hospitals, including Amai Pakpak Medical Center and Cotabato Sanitarium Hospital.
PPE has also been distributed to personnel manning checkpoints and frontliners of Amana Bank and Land Bank of the Philippines in Cotabato City.
The Bangsamoro government is also coordinating with Cotabato Sanitarium Hospital for the immediate construction of a facility to accommodate potential Covid-19 patients.
