Amihan to bring rains to parts of Luzon

The northeast monsoon, locally known as "amihan," is expected to bring cloudy skies and scattered rains to several provinces in Luzon.

The shear line will affect eastern sections of northern and central Luzon, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms to Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mt. Province, Aurora, and Quezon.

The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will impact Palawan and Mindanao, also causing cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms in Palawan and Zamboanga Peninsula.

Areas affected by moderate to heavy rains may experience flash floods or landslides.

Ilocos Region, the rest of CAR, and the rest of Central Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains from the northeast monsoon, with no significant impact expected.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to easterlies or localized thunderstorms.

Severe thunderstorms in these areas could also lead to flash floods or landslides.

The forecast for northern and central Luzon indicates moderate to strong northeasterly winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.
