Yulo's Olympic win boosts gymnastics hopes

Carlos Yulo's coach Allen Castañeda expresses hope that Yulo's historic victory at the Paris Olympics 2024 will lead to increased support for gymnastics in the Philippines.

Yulo and his teammates returned to Manila on Tuesday after securing two gold medals and two bronze medals, with Yulo confirming his intent to compete in the Los Angeles Games in 2028.

Castañeda thanked the Philippine Olympic Committee, Philippine Sports Commission, and Gymnastics Association of the Philippines for their support.

After a disappointing performance in Tokyo three years ago, Yulo's comeback in Paris was marked by gold medals in floor exercise and vault, solidifying his status as one of the world's top gymnasts.

Yulo's success has earned him substantial incentives; President Bongbong Marcos announced that he will receive P20 million from his office, bringing the total government incentive to P40 million.

The celebration continues, but Yulo and his team are planning to resume training in about one to two months.
