Groups plan protests, online events ahead of Duterte's SONA

Various groups are organizing protests and activities ahead of President Rodrigo Duterte's 5th State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 27, focusing on issues such as the passage of the anti-terrorism law and the shutdown of ABS-CBN.

Due to pandemic restrictions, some protesters will hold online events, including an online State of the Youth Addresses (SOYA), while others plan to protest in person with strict safety protocols.

Around 60 youth organizations and student councils across the country are uniting for a massive protest called 'People’s SONA' or 'SONA ng mamayan', denouncing the government's response to the pandemic and the anti-terror law.
