Yellow warning issued for Batanes due to Habagat

A yellow rainfall warning was issued for Batanes due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) on Saturday afternoon.

The warning signals heavy rains of up to 15mm per hour in Batanes and moderate to heavy rains in Cagayan's Calayan, with potential flooding and landslides in flood-prone areas.

PAGASA’s 2 p.m. advisory extended the alert to include light rains affecting various parts of Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, portions of Benguet and Abra, Aurora (Casiguran, Dilasag), and other regions for up to three hours.

Light to moderate rains are expected over the rest of Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao for the next two to three hours.

Residents and local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices were advised to monitor weather conditions and prepare for further warnings scheduled at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

PAGASA warned of possible landslides, mudslides, rockslides, and flash floods in mountainous areas, urging residents to take precautionary measures.
