DBM releases P30.8B for cities, municipalities vs COVID-19

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released PHP30.82 billion for a one-time financial assistance to cities and municipalities in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

This amount is part of the Bayanihan Grant to Cities and Municipalities (BGCM), aimed at boosting local government capacities during the state of calamity declared by President Rodrigo Duterte on March 16, 2020.

The funds can only be used for COVID-19 related programs, projects, activities, and expenses such as personal protective equipment, testing supplies, medical personnel support, food assistance, and other necessary PPAs.

Funds not utilized after the state of calamity ends will revert to the national treasury.
