VP Sara Duterte travels abroad after father's arrest

The Office of the President issued a travel authority for Vice President Sara Duterte on Tuesday night to allow her trips abroad, including a visit to The Hague in the Netherlands.

Vice President Sara Duterte left Manila on Wednesday morning via Emirates flight EK 337 bound for Amsterdam following her father's arrest by Interpol and local police.

Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro confirmed that the travel authority covers visits to Germany, France, Belgium, and The Netherlands from March 11 to April 30, 2025.

In a statement, Vice President Duterte described her father's arrest as political persecution with no legal basis.

The former president's arrest stems from the International Criminal Court's ongoing investigation into allegations that his anti-drug campaign led to thousands of extrajudicial killings when he was Davao City mayor and president of the country.
