Rep Paolo Duterte gets travel OK for Japan, Netherlands trip

The House of Representatives has granted travel clearance to Davao City Representative Paolo Duterte for a personal trip to Japan and the Netherlands from March 12 to April 15, 2025.

Paolo requested the clearance through an email sent on March 11, 2024, addressed to House Speaker Martin Romualdez, seeking permission for his personal travel expenses.

This comes as former President Rodrigo Duterte was arrested by Interpol in Manila and is now en route to The Hague to face charges of crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Vice President Sara Duterte, Paolo's sister, departed for The Hague on Wednesday morning with a legal team to assist their father.

The travel clearance follows standard procedures required for government workers during recess periods like the current one until June 2 and does not involve public funds.
