Duterte meets Sara in The Hague, misses Filipino food

Former President Rodrigo Duterte appeared well-rested and expressed missing Filipino food during his first meeting with Vice President Sara Duterte after being detained on crimes against humanity charges at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

Sara met her father for an hour in a visiting area of the facility where he is currently held, noting that he was 'in good spirits' and well taken care of.

Duterte told his daughter that he had slept well and watched TV, but complained about missing Filipino cuisine; however, there has been recent improvement in the food being served to him with rice now included in meals.

Vice President Sara Duterte assured her father she would return home once another family member arrives or when legal proceedings are underway, emphasizing her role as a lawyer in his case.

Former President Duterte requested that Sara go back to the Philippines and not leave the country until another relative can assist him.

During a press conference with supporters on Friday, March 14, Vice President Sara Duterte reiterated that her father only wished for her to return home and not leave the Philippines.
