Robredo: Pushing jeepney modernization amid pandemic 'unfair'

Vice President Leni Robredo said pushing for jeepney modernization during the COVID-19 pandemic is unfair to drivers who have not earned income due to lockdowns.

Robredo stated that forcing non-modernized jeepneys off the road now would double the injustice to drivers who have been out of work for three months.

She clarified she supports modernization but believes it should not be enforced at this time.

Jeepney drivers have been advocating for fair terms to manage the transition, and LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra announced that traditional jeepneys will be allowed back on the road next week.
