DILG: Sotto can’t be prosecuted for Bayanihan Act violation

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto cannot be prosecuted for allegedly violating the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, according to the DILG.

The DILG and DOJ agree that penal provisions of the law are not retroactive.

Sotto was asked by the NBI to explain an alleged violation related to tricycles operating during the quarantine, but he maintains compliance with all directives.

Earlier, Sotto allowed tricycles in Pasig to ferry health workers despite the ban on public transportation.
