Most LGUs prefer AstraZeneca for COVID-19 vaccines

Most LGUs in the Philippines prefer the AstraZeneca vaccine for their coronavirus vaccination programs.

Baguio City has allocated PHP200 million for its vaccination program and signed a deal with AstraZeneca to purchase at least 190,000 doses.

Cebu City is ready to buy vaccines from Pfizer or Moderna and has set aside PHP400 million for the procurement.

Valenzuela City secured a deal with AstraZeneca for 640,000 vaccine doses, enough to vaccinate 70% of its target population in the second half of 2021.

In contrast, Samal town in Bataan will rely on national government funding due to lack of local budget.
