Sinovac rollout for seniors starts April 12

On April 12, a simultaneous voluntary vaccination program for senior citizens using Sinovac's CoronaVac will begin across the Philippines.

The FDA approved the use of CoronaVac on seniors based on data from other countries and reports from health workers aged 60 and above who volunteered to receive it.

Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje advised all regional and local vaccination centers to update their scheduling for senior citizens and wait for guidelines.

A Manila resident became one of the first elderly individuals to be vaccinated with Sinovac on April 8, encouraging other seniors to pre-register through the city government's website.

The FDA reported that Sinovac’s efficacy rate among elderly people is at least 51%, but it should not be given to those with acute illness or uncontrolled hypertension.
