UST secures UAAP boys' basketball finals berth, faces NU-Naz

University of Santo Tomas secured the second seed in the UAAP Season 87 boys' basketball tournament and advanced to the Finals for the first time in 15 years with a decisive 75-63 victory over Far Eastern University-Diliman on Sunday.

UST's win ensures they will face top-seeded National University Nazareth School (NU-Naz) in the best-of-three title series, which begins on Thursday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Senegalese forward Racine Kane and Koji Buenaflor led UST with double-doubles of 11 points and 15 rebounds, and 15 points and seven boards respectively, while Wacky Ludovice contributed 16 points including three triples.

UST's defense was particularly effective against FEU-D, holding them to a scoreless second half after eight points at halftime.

This marks UST's first Finals appearance since Season 73 in 2010 and sets the stage for an historic matchup with NU-Naz on Thursday.
