UST wins UAAP men's chess title for fourth straight year

University of Santo Tomas secured the UAAP Season 87 men's chess crown with a decisive victory over Adamson University on Tuesday, completing their fourth consecutive title and earning their 11th championship overall.

UST finished the season with 17 match points, leading the standings with eight wins, one draw, and one loss, clinching the title as early as the penultimate round.

FIDE Master Christian Daluz led the charge with an undefeated record across nine matches to earn this year's MVP award and gold medal performance on the top board.

UST swept all five gold medals in the individual boards; head coach Ronald Dableo celebrated by planning a trip to Baguio, reflecting on his players' resilience after a Round 2 loss to De La Salle University.

University of the Philippines improved to second place and Far Eastern University finished third after overcoming De La Salle University in the final round.
