UST clinches fifth straight double championship in UAAP table tennis

University of Santo Tomas extended its winning streaks in both the men's and women's divisions of the UAAP Season 87 Women's Table Tennis tournament by defeating Far Eastern University on Saturday.

UST secured a flawless 12-0 record, advancing to the Finals where they swept Ateneo de Manila University in the men's division with a 3-1 victory and defeated FEU in the women's division with a 3-0 sweep, clinching their fifth consecutive championship for both divisions.

Ateneo de Manila University and Far Eastern University will face UST in the Finals respectively, but UST emerged victorious to become the first program since De La Salle in 2015 to sweep all four titles.

UST now awaits Tuesday’s Finals series for both divisions, where they aim to complete their season sweeps that included 2-0 wins against Adamson University and De La Salle Zobel in the high school divisions.

This marks only the second event sweep in UAAP table tennis since Season 78 (2015), when De La Salle University and De La Salle-Zobel ruled all divisions.
