UP Maroons beat UE Red Warriors 81-71 in UAAP

The UP Fighting Maroons secured an 81-71 victory over the UE Red Warriors in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament on Saturday, September 14.

JD Cagulangan led the way for UP with a game-high 21 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, but expressed dissatisfaction with his team's performance despite their strong start.

UP maintained a significant lead throughout most of the match, extending their advantage to as much as 27 points in the third quarter before UE rallied slightly in the fourth.

UE's Precious Momowei put up a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds for the Red Warriors but was unable to overcome UP's early dominance.

With this win, the Fighting Maroons improved their record to 2-0, tying them with La Salle and UST at the top of the standings, while UE dropped to a 0-2 record.
