UE's Abate and Ganade named Players of the Week

John Abate and Jearzy Ganade were named Collegiate Press Corps UAAP Players of the Week for their outstanding performances from September 18 to 22.

Abate, a guard for the Red Warriors, averaged 12 points per game and secured his team's victory against defending champions La Salle with a career-high 20-point performance in a stunning 75-71 conquest.

Ganade, a combo guard for the Lady Warriors, contributed significantly to their historic upset win over La Salle with an impressive stat line of 8.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7 assists per game, ending a 40-game losing streak spanning five years.

Both players expressed confidence in their teams' ability to build on recent successes, with Abate highlighting teamwork and execution as key factors for future wins.

UE aims to tally its third straight win against a struggling NU men's side this Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena, while the Lady Warriors look to ignite their first winning streak since Season 81 also against unbeaten NU in women's play.
