Tropical Storm Siony may hit Batanes by Friday

Tropical Storm Siony is affecting northern Luzon with cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers due to its slow movement over the Philippine Sea.

As of Tuesday morning, Siony was located 565 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, moving slowly or almost stationary for the next 24 hours before potentially making landfall in the Batanes-Babuyan Islands area on Friday.

PAGASA warns that combined rains from Siony and northeasterly winds could cause flash floods or landslides in affected areas including Batanes, Apayao, Cagayan, and Isabela.
