Siony causes minimal damage in Batanes

Severe Tropical Storm Siony caused minimal damage in Batanes as of Saturday, November 7, according to Governor Marilou Cayco.

Most trees were affected with some fallen coconuts but no significant damage was reported to houses, roads, bridges or infrastructure.

PAGASA warned of damaging winds and heavy rains on Friday when Siony made landfall over Itbayat municipality.

Residents had prepared early for the storm by reinforcing their homes and windows, preventing major damages.

No evacuees were recorded as most residents were well-prepared with local government ready to distribute relief packs.
