Tour of Luzon draws 4 foreign teams for April event

The Tour of Luzon, a multi-stage road racing event in the Philippines, has drawn significant interest with four foreign teams joining 12 continental and domestic club teams.

Set to begin on April 24 in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, the event aims to revive cycling competitions in the country and features eight stages, including a queen stage from Lingayen to Camp John Hay in Baguio City.

Patrick 'Pato' Gregorio, president of the organizing DuckWorld PH, expressed surprise at the high level of enthusiasm for an event not yet on the UCI international calendar.

Teams participating include CCN Factory HK from Hong Kong, Malaysia Pro Cycling, Bryton Racing Team from Taiwan, and Gapyeong Cycling Team from South Korea, alongside several UCI continental teams such as 7-Eleven Cliqq Roadbike Philippines, Standard Insurance Philippines, Go For Gold Philippines, and Victoria Sports Pro Cycling Team.

The champion team will receive a cool P1 million while the individual champion gets P500,000.
