TNT Thunder beats Rain or Shine 98-91 in PBA semis, RR Pogoy scores 28 points

TNT Thunder secured a 98-91 victory over Rain or Shine in the opening game of their PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup semifinals series on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Veteran guard RR Pogoy, who recently joined the PBA's 5,000-point club, played a crucial role with 28 points and key baskets late in the fourth period to help TNT maintain their lead.

Rain or Shine plans to focus on stopping Pogoy in Game 2 at Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Friday, while TNT head coach Chot Reyes highlighted areas needing improvement from their first half play.

TNT maintained defensive dominance by outrebounding Rain or Shine 59-44 and will aim for a commanding 2-0 lead against the Elasto Painters in Game 2 at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
