Thousands flee homes as Typhoon Odette hits Mindanao

Thousands fled to evacuation centers across Mindanao as Typhoon Odette (Rai) made landfall on December 16.

In Cagayan de Oro alone, around 9,270 people sought shelter in local government-run centers due to rising floodwaters and the threat of more floods.

Floodwater rendered several roads impassable and forced nearly 120 families from 12 villages to evacuate ahead of the typhoon's landfall.
