Cebu prepares for Typhoon Odette

Cebu province, including Mandaue City, Cebu City, and Lapu-Lapu City, has initiated disaster prevention measures in preparation for Typhoon Odette.

As of Wednesday, December 15, the entire Cebu province was placed under Signal No. 1 by PAGASA.

Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama emphasized caution and deployed flood-control equipment and personnel to mountainous and lowland areas prone to landslides and flooding.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia instructed mayors in 44 localities to take necessary precautions, including suspending work if needed.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office pre-positioned response teams and equipment in staging areas.

Lapu-Lapu City's DRRM officer Nagiel Bañacia continued the evacuation of residents in Olango island group.
