Taal under Alert Level 3, volcanic quakes up

Taal Volcano remains under Alert Level 3 as of February 11.

Phivolcs recorded 87 volcanic quakes on Tuesday, up from 77 the previous day, with one low-frequency event and two harmonic tremors.

Sulfur dioxide emissions averaged 105 tonnes per day on February 10, down slightly from 116 tonnes on February 8.

Plume height increased to 50-100 meters tall compared to 20-50 meters the previous day.

Entry into Taal Volcano Island and nearby lake shores within a seven-kilometer radius of the main crater is prohibited.
