Residents of Taal Volcano Island to relocate to Ibaan

Displaced residents of Taal Volcano Island, a permanent danger zone, will be relocated to Ibaan town in Batangas for their safety.

Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste said the priority is relocating the 10,000 former residents of the island.

Leviste mentioned two facilities in Ibaan: one from the National Housing Authority with around 1,000 houses and another temporary shelter originally designed as a drug rehabilitation center.

The relocation aims to free up schools being used as evacuation centers so that classes suspended since January 12 can resume.
