DILG orders Taal danger zone lockdown, evacuations continue

The DILG has ordered local chief executives to implement a total lockdown in barangays within the 14-kilometer high-risk zone around Taal Volcano.

Evacuation centers are being set up for displaced families and individuals, with instructions to ensure uninterrupted provision of basic services.

Warning signs have been established to forbid entry into the danger zones, and boats have been removed from lakeshore areas.

As of Tuesday, 98% of residents within the danger zone have been evacuated, with remaining residents being relocated.

The NDRRMC advises continued evacuation due to hazards such as base surge, volcanic tsunami, and ballistic projectiles.
