Agricultural damage from Taal eruption hits P3B

The cost of agricultural damage due to the Taal volcano eruption has reached PHP3 billion.

As of January 17, the DA reported that the eruption affected 15,790 hectares and 1,923 animals in Calabarzon.

Fisheries are the most impacted sector with estimated losses of PHP1.6 billion for tilapia and bangus species.

High-value crops such as coffee, cacao, pineapple, fruits, vegetables, rice, and coconut also suffered significant damage.

The DA has distributed PHP21.7 million worth of interventions to 17 local government units in the region.
