Taal unrest displaces over 88K families

As of Friday, January 24, 2020, 88,842 families or 346,244 individuals have been displaced by the unrest at Taal Volcano.

The affected families are from Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, and Quezon.

Of those displaced, 37,311 families are in evacuation centers while the rest are being helped outside or with relatives.

On Thursday, PAGASA reported weak to moderate steam emissions and sulfur dioxide levels of 224 tons per day from Taal Volcano.

Since January 12, a total of 731 volcanic earthquakes have been recorded, with 176 felt ranging in magnitude from 1.2 to 4.1.

Damage to agriculture has reached PHP3.2 billion and the government has provided almost PHP27 million in aid.
