Suspected NPA members killed in Quezon encounters

A suspected member of the New People's Army (NPA) was killed in a firefight with government troops in Quezon on Wednesday.

The encounter occurred when soldiers responding to reports of extortion by NPA members in Mulanay, Quezon, engaged in a shootout resulting in one rebel death and one soldier injured but stable.

Earlier on Tuesday, another suspected NPA member was killed in Gumaca, Quezon during an encounter with troops distributing COVID-19 information materials.

In both incidents, the military recovered firearms and subversive documents from the sites.
