CPP affirms NPA ceasefire amid COVID-19

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) stated on Monday that its armed wing, the New People's Army (NPA), will continue to observe a ceasefire during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the NPA condemned an attack by government soldiers and rebels in Rizal province which resulted in casualties on both sides.

Malacañang strongly condemned the NPA attack on government troops conducting community work, calling it insincere and disregarding people's welfare.

The AFP chief of staff stated that the NPA will not honor its ceasefire declaration due to their recent violent actions.
