SAF troops to enforce strict Cebu City lockdown

At least 160 Special Action Force (SAF) personnel will be deployed to Cebu City to enforce strict quarantine measures.

Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu, appointed by President Duterte to oversee the crisis in Cebu, said local police are insufficient for enforcing ECQ protocols.

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año confirmed additional soldiers and police from Bicol, Western Visayas, and Metro Manila will also be deployed.

Two companies of SAF commandos, totaling 150 personnel, will prevent non-essential movement and ensure residents wear masks when going out for essentials like food and medicine.
