DOH sends more medics to Cebu City

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III announced Wednesday that more medical personnel have been sent to Cebu City to assist with the COVID-19 surge.

Five doctors and 270 nurses from various regions were deployed, while additional volunteers came from the Philippine Society of Medical Specialists in Government Service and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Initially, the DOH planned to send 40 doctors but changed it to a voluntary basis after facing resistance from some medical personnel.

The Doctors-to-the-Barrio program also agreed to deploy their members on a voluntary basis following consultations with health officials.
